Cree Mann

Painting to me has always been a source of wonder and, occasionally, frustration. I had always enjoyed drawing and started painting after my children were grown. While working in fashion retailing it seemed natural to choose a creative form of expression which required a sense of color and design. For years this was designing and making all my clothes but when I took up painting the joy of creativity in paint quickly supplanted that in fabric. Acrylic, oil and pastel gave way, finally, to watercolor, which has remained my favorite.

My favorite subjects are landscape, architecture, and flowers--I love to paint out of doors and Santa Barbara provides the best weather and locations to immerse myself in beauty. I continue to take classes and workshops and find a wonderful stimulation in painting with others.

In addition to Mesa Artists I belong to the Santa Barbara Artists Association, Goleta Valley Artists Association, SCAPE, and Brushmarks Critique Group. My work can be found in collections around the world, and my greeting cards of local scenes have been very popular.

I feel very grateful to live in Santa Barbara and hope to continue to share my joy in its beauty through watercolor for many years to come.
