Sally Hamilton

I enjoy experimenting with different media and setting new challenges. I work in oils, acrylics and pastel and have been painting and participating in local art shows since 1990. I have continually taken local life drawing classes and painting workshops with nationally known artists such as Marcia Burtt, Albert Handell, Randall Stewart, Peggi Kroll Roberts, Skip Lawrence and Tony Askew.

I enjoy setting a theme for solo exhibits. Examples of my shows are “Farscapes” (oil landscapes looking down as if from a plane) “Mono” (still lifes in oil of Japanese objects), “Another Look” (mixed media abstractions inspired by my own landscapes) “Body Language” (figures in oil, pastel and acrylics) “Liquid Visions” (oil still lifes featuring water) “Tuscan Inspiration” (pastels done in Tuscany, Italy) “Dreams of Flying” (whimsical pastels based on stories people told her about their dreams of flying) and “Skyscapes” (abstracted mixed media pieces influenced by air travel), Figures (figures in oil and pastel).
I have produced solo exhibits at the Faulkner Gallery, Gallery 113, Corridan Gallery, the UCSB Faculty Club, Finestra, Fielding University, The University Club, Montecito Country Club, and Live Culture and I has appeared in many invitational and group exhibits.

After teaching elementary school in Goleta for 27 years, I retired in 1999 and have enjoyed focusing on art work, attending classes and helping to organize art exhibits through the Santa Barbara Art Association and SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment.) I was twice President of SBAA and was the Exhibits Chair for SCAPE for 4 years. I am a founding member of MAST (Mesa Artists Studio Tour).
